Meet the Artist

I am delighted to share with you my art. Inspired by photos taken by my wife and me on our honeymoon and first visit to France. Each scene is a moment that took our breath away. Walking these storybook style streets, homes painted in so many colours, I'm curious of the layers of history, of humanity's creativity preserved and respected by the people who live here.

I am an Australian artist in Brisbane, and growing up in a country so young, I'm seeing these historic places like a child sees their first snow. ("Like a child sees their first beach" is more Australian but it doesn't have quite the same ring, does it.)

I first painted with watercolour six years ago and was immediately taken by how this medium allows me to paint instinctively and playfully in high detail. I believe I’ve inherited my talent for fine art painting from my grand mothers, Gwen who would sketch old architecture in fine black pen, and Audrey who would paint a portrait of every grandchild as they slept in their cots. I too am drawn to watercolour as a way to get quiet, still and celebrate the beauty of this world. Over time I have become familiar with watercolour to the point where painting feels delightful and intuitive, with critical moments where my heart beats hard and I'm in deep concentration. There is no command Z 'undo' in real life, and I love it. I love the texture of the paper, the way the paint can make its own choices and the feel of the brush in my hand.

I have worked closely with the team at Streets Imaging to produce fine art prints, printed on watercolour paper that mimic the original work so closely it is hard to tell them apart. I wouldn't have it any other way, being so closely tuned in to detail as I am.

All products are created here in Australia by Artist Bronte Pearce and printed by Streets Imaging Brisbane, Aus.
